Once a photographer, Danielle van Ark now calls herself a visual artist and scavenger. To others, she's the creator of powerful, conceptual works that are steeped in emotion and surprise at every turn. Scouring flea markets and online auctions, she dissects images from the past to compose new visions for the future. With her series 'Here today, gone tomorrow', she explores the power of postcards. Postcards, she explains, embody a sense of freedom, a cherished memory. Rotating them a quarter and enhancing them photographically, she transforms their striking landscapes into an absorbing Rorschach test of the here and now.
